Newsletter 31st May 2024

Dear friends,

Over the last few weeks, four respective PCCs have agreed to establish a new Benefice Council, consisting of churchwardens (or other substitute reps) from each of the four parishes and the four clergy. The hope is that this Council will ensure better communication and more strategic thinking about mission and ministry. We didn’t get off to the best of starts when three members went to the wrong venue for our first meeting (including the Vicar and the Curate!) I am not convinced that it is within the remit of the Council to ensure clergy read their agendas properly, but what it is hoped it will achieve is a structure that will underpin the spiritual reality that we are (under God) one family.

Good families communicate well with each other, plan together, celebrate together and commiserate with each other. The Day of Pentecost was a reminder that the Holy Spirit was poured out when they were together. Easter Day is a reminder that Jesus appeared in their midst when the disciples came together. We trust that as we come together, the same Jesus and the same Holy Spirit will be amongst us.

Romans Course

A course on the Book of Romans, St Paul’s great masterpiece, started last Monday and continues on June 3rd at 7 p.m. at 3 Earls Court. Please speak to Richard or Allen if you would like to know more. Missing the introductory session is no bar to attendance.
