Welcome to St George’s Church, Pontesbury, Shropshire, England.
2014-06-16-view-from-east-02The origins of St George’s church can be traced to about 1250, but the church was largely restored in the 19th century. For a small village, population around 3,500, it is large, and has a very active and lively congregation. Pontesbury is a rural community, and extends a warm welcome to all visitors. St George’s is open to all during daylight hours, but is closed at night.

Here are a few pictures of our area. We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are well worth a visit, and you can find us on the Shropshire Churches Tourism Group here. You can stop a slide by hovering over it, or move on by clicking on the side arrows.
