Newsletter 13th January 2023

I must confess to having a bit of a post-Christmas dip in the days between Christmas and New Year. The busyness and focus on all the various services and events very suddenly drops away to nothing and it is a bit of a shock to the system. I was left with a slight “is that it?” feeling; imagine playing Snakes and Ladders, getting to the top of the board game only to land on the biggest and longest snake and slide all the way back to the second square and you get a sense of the comedown.
However, the words of the psalmist in 43:5 come to me – “why are you cast down O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.”
2023 is going to be a great year and I trust that God is going to do great things in the churches across our benefices. Let’s trust in him for the coming year in all areas of our lives.

A new Alpha course for anyone in the area who wants to learn more about the Christian faith begins on Wednesday 25th January at the Deanery and will run for 10 Weds evenings. The course assumes no prior knowledge and is perfect for those who are new to faith; those who want to know whether Christianity is for them and for those who have been coming to church for a long time but feel there is more to learn. As well as an opportunity to learn, there is wonderful fellowship and excellent food. To secure a place, please contact Sue at susantownsend267@gmail.com
